I agree that a Carnation is nice. I really depends on what flowers are in season. Here are a few suggestions: Chrysanthemum, Hydrangea, or Orchids. For the boutonnieres you could do mini Gerber daisies, or if you do not want to do that you could try: a dark red calla lily (beautiful flowers) red carnation or an orchid.
