Anyone have ideas for inexpensive wedding centerpieces?

Submitted by Kat

I don’t want to use flowers in the arrangement. My colors are brown and orange. I was thinking about using candles. Please help, it’s in September!

I would use candles with rose peddles if you don’t want flowers.

    Orientaltrading.com
Has tons of stuff and ideas….. very cheap.

You could do anything… maybe small pumpkins mixed with candles and leaves.

I would pick up a copy of Martha Steward- her normal craft magazine or check on line in her craft section for ideas.

Go to Michaels or AC Moore and get glass bubble bowls and round mirrors, very inexpensive. You can get floating candles and put them in water in the glass bowl.
    here are some better ideas:

Dollar Stores always have lots of neat things for $1.00 or less. Recently, I noticed a whole wedding section at the dollar store. They have silk flowers and flowers and leaves that look real but are not. They also have lots of different candles and candle holders. You could maybe use the small favor sized glasses to hold brown and orange candies and mints. You could also buy the fish bowl vases, fill the bottom with brown and orange cellophane or tissue paper or brown and orange wrapped candies (also available at the dollar store or the card party stores) put a plate on top with a brown and orange candle or candles with individually wrapped favors. I think Hersheys starts to sell the brown and orange kisses in September so you could even use those. Use the brown and orange silk leaves stapled to large plastic cups and either tape or glue the kisses or candies on them so that it looks like a neat candy tree. You could make large orange flowers from tissue paper, glue a pretty clear vase in the center and fill it with candies to make it look like a big zinnia or brown-eyed susan. How about using footballs as center pieces?

I’m getting married in September too! Congratulations!

I found this great site that has TONS of resources: pictures, articles, ideas, etc.

And you can plan your entire wedding down to the very last detail using this site.

    I highly recommend it.

    All the best!

Fresh flowers are expensive. Silk Flowers are not so cheap either if they are quality. If you do a large floral piece in silk it is quite expensive. I know because I do floral arranging as a side hobby for friends and family and even if flowers are on sale, a normal arrangement could cost $50 just for supplies. Michaels has a beautiful assortment of flowers, but depending on how many tables you have, it could still cost alot. What I would do is get a wholesaler on the internet who sells candles. Purchase a beautiful style candle preferably in cream color. Then use your own craft style, maybe with the help of someone who has done floral arrangements, make a round ring wreath made of all autumn colors out of silk flowers using wire. Possibly mums, and another flower. Wire the flowers to look like a wreath or another idea is to buy a small wreath made up possibly made of dried branches..then place flowers hot gluing them around and then put candle in middle and then have it lit when wedding reception begins. I think that would be lovely. Also look in Michaels for floral arranging books for ideas. But for an economical center piece, this is the way to go.
Best of luck on your wedding plans.

If you take out the pink from this pictures you can add some brown leaves the centerpiece on the table.

Set a big mirror on the table and put your candles on top of it, that is always beautiful. I like the idea of the scattered petal on the table that someone mentioned above. You can get big bags of silk rose petals at oriental trading.com,

Go gather up some beautiful Fall leaves (closer to the wedding) and use those along with candles to give it a warm autum wedding feel. You can also do cool things with hollowed out small pumpkins or squashes and put in tea lights (don’t think halloween, think Martha). Good luck.

NO MIRRORS, CANDY OR ROSE PETALS. TACKY TACKY TACKY
