I’m looking for something that is inexpensive for wedding centerpieces. I know the “typical” flower arrangements are fairly pricey. I’m not opposed to using flowers, I just don’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money for something that’s only going to have meaning for one day! My colors are orange and fuschia and I’m getting married next July…so I was thinking of going the goldfish in vases of water route, but my fiancee thinks that’s “inhumane.” I also like the idea of making the favors the centerpiece, but I don’t really know what I would use to do that…Any other thoughts?! Thanks!

We used little bowls of water with a few floating candles in them. We found some marbles the color of our wedding and out them in the bottom of the glass bowls.
Take a look at this website.
I like candles. It is romantic and cheap.
You can also put a disposable camera on the table, so you can get pictures that you will miss because you cannot be at every place during the reception.
If you make sure the fish are fed I don’t see anything wrong with it. Some other things you could do is have a bowl with floating candle, Have a vase filled with fake flowers or buy the flowers from Sam’s Club or another cheap place and make the arrangements yourself. You could also have candle la bras with orange candle and fushcia flowers wrapped around the base ore vise a versa. For a favor centerpiece you can make chocolate roses and wrap them foils that match your colors and put them in a vase. Only do this if your reception is indoors and the ac is on.
First off-congrats to you!
What about 3 different size pillar candles, perhaps on mirrors, with rose petals scattered around the outside. Perhaps tied together with satin ribbon? Cheap and classic.
I wouldn’t use the goldfish – for one thing living things shouldn’t be used as decorations…and, think about how the centerpieces will look if the fish poop while at the table. No one wants to see that floating around.
For centerpieces there are lots of things that you can do that don’t involve expensive flowers.
You could get a tall vase and fill it with water. You can put gems on the bottom of the vase and hide a floralyte in the gems so it will cast a beautiful glow – kind of like this but without the flowers:
Or – you could use oranges -
here are a few other ideas:
Here are a few suggestions for incorporating the favors into the centerpieces:
the cheapest is floating candles, an easy D.I.Y. job

this is a unique idea with these battery powered lanterns, im sure it would break the bank to have one on each table
Also to make it look more bold and mordern without breaking the bank is to buy patterned wrapping paper in your colours and place them under the centrepeices or table matts, like this
And my final suggestion if you want to have something pretty but also for the guests to take home after, how about a display of fortune cookies??? however depending on how much guests and how well you want them presented, could be pricey
You can do what they call ‘break-away centerpieces’ using flowers, candles, or whatever and each guest at the table takes home part of the centerpiece as their favor like this
or what about something like this, you could hang the favor of your choice from the faux tree at each table and guests can take one home….anyway, good luck!
If you do fish,, people may not take them home and then you will be stuck with them. Potted plants, or glass bowl with glass rocks in your colors, with floating candles,
i am having a vase filled with water, coloured stones on the bottom holding a single red rose in the water with floating candle on top. simple but it looks stunning.
What flower is the lack of indispensable help for the wedding. For both fresh and luscious beauty luscious really help the atmosphere very romantic.
