Silk Flower Arrangements – A Great Way To Spruce Up The Dining Room

Submitted by D Randolph
Silk Flowers are a great way to make your dining room table look great all the time. I recently bought a beautiful silk tulip arrangement. The arrangement is 30” high and fills the center of the dining table perfectly.

The best part is most people think it is absolutely real. When I tell them it is a fake flower arrangement they don’t believe me until they smell it. The arrangement is full of white French tulips in a glass vase with Faux water. The arrangement was nicely arranged out of the box. I simply unwrapped it and put it on the table.

Maintenance is simple, no watering. About once a week I use a feather duster on it. I read that I could also use compressed air if I am careful. This arrangement has added a lot of beauty to the room. I am thinking of getting a few more so I can change them around.

Quality silk arrangements are not cheap. This was just over $200 but I did shop around and found that cheaper versions look fake. That may be fine for a corner in an office but in a prominent place like a dining room, a high quality silk arrangement is the best option.

Lastly, I was pleased to find out that silk flowers are not made of silk. Most silk flowers are made of synthetics so they last longer and look more realistic. Add a touch of beauty to your dining area with low maintenance Silk Flower Arrangements.

Fresh Flower Secrets

Submitted by Tracey Schabel
Interior decorators know the secret to making a big impact in a room. Large, unique accessories make a statement and bring in that “wow” factor. The most used accessory is, of course, fresh flowers. The pages of a glossy magazine have gorgeous arrangements and stylish settings, which you can also do! Here are some easy tips for arranging flowers from your garden, a florist, a home store, even your supermarket!

TIP: Remember- fresh, warm water and your flowers will last much longer.

Flowers from your garden will be the freshest, most fragrant options that you will be able to find. But, I know, it’s hard to cut down that clump of tulips in your front flowerbed. So plan ahead a bit and work a flower cutting bed into your landscape. Fill it with bulbs like Tulips and Daffodils, annuals like Zinnias, Cleome, and Cosmos, and perennials such as Autumn Joy Sedum. Don’t forget the greenery- Hosta leaves and Ivy are workhorses in arrangements! When working with garden flowers, clean any stray dirt and always cut on a diagonal to ensure that the flower will draw up the most water. Place like type flowers in vases and enjoy! Be abundant and group the vases together for major impact on your dining table or foyer.

TIP: Daffodils have a substance that is poisonous to other flowers, so never mix them with others.

Flowers from a florist are luxurious and can either be arranged by them or by you. The florist will be able to broaden your flower choices by having things flown in from Europe, South America, and other parts of the United States. This is great for special occasions and events, but will be a bit pricier for the unique flowers that they carry. When ordering flowers, be specific about where they will go and what the event is.

TIP: Let your florist know that you are flexible with certain things like shape or color and they will hunt down the best seasonal flowers to fit your needs.

Flowers from a big box home store- what would you do with that? Flowering plants like hydrangea and lilies are a gorgeous centerpiece or on a foyer table. Usually they will carry flowering plants on a seasonal basis- so check out their offerings now and again. When you get the plant home, take the foil wrapper off and put it in a decorative container. Cover the soil with a top dressing of seashells, marbles, even aquarium gravel, and enjoy the instant impact of the blooms!

TIP: Poinsettias at Christmastime are best on a lower level, like a hearth, since they are rather branchy and their blooms are prettiest viewed downward.

The supermarket is one of my favorite places to buy flowers- convenient and relatively inexpensive if you are not too concerned with the choices. If you are lucky enough to have a place that offers a mixed bunch special or 3 bunches/ »$12, grab it up! The 3 bunch special you can buy all the same and have that glorious large bouquet sitting on your table. The mixed bunch requires a bit more work: we want to break it apart to make more of a statement. Generally there is a focal flower like a rose, filler flowers like baby’s breath, and some type of greenery in this bunch. Use three different vases-small, medium, and large, and divide the flowers up. In the smallest, lowest vase, put all of your greenery. In the medium one-use the filler flower to enhance this size vase. The focal flower goes in the most dramatic vase- that’s what you really paid for, so show it off. Group the three vases together and “wow” everyone with your flower arranging!

TIP: Do use the flower food packets that generally come with these bunches.

Flower arranging can be a lot of fun and need not take too much time and money. Be creative and mix and match your containers- I love to use canning jars in the summer with a single posy in each. Fresh flowers are all about immediate impact and putting a smile on your face. Life is too short, so go ahead indulge today!

Flower Tips for Party Decorations

Submitted by Gail Leino
Flowers are a popular accessory to use for party decorations but, you may need a few tips to help your decorations go from fair to fabulous. Decide what kinds of flower go with the kind of party you’re going to throw. Roses are romantic, tulips are elegant, daisies or sunflowers are whimsical and carnations are casual.

You can use real or silk flowers for your centerpieces or for table top decorations. You may want to arrange centerpieces ahead of time so that all of your party preparations don’t have to be done at the last minute. Silk flowers are perfect for this accommodation.

If you want to help fresh flowers last longer there are a few things you need to do. Make sure that you use only healthy flowers. There should be no brown spots or wilting pedals. Cut the stems of the flowers at an angle underwater, place the flowers in lukewarm water and add a little lemon-lime soda to the water to give your flowers an extra punch.

If you are using flowers for centerpieces keep the arrangements high for a buffet table, low and long for a sit-down dinner and small and scaled down for smaller tables. Use unique and inventive items to place the flowers in. Look for elegant shaped vases, beautiful bowls or even silver or metal trays.

To create interest and beauty to your centerpieces fill the bottom of clear vases with colored stone or add floating candles to a centerpiece with few flowers. Using an online florist such as www.florists.tk will save you time. Shopping on the internet you can find all of the supplies you will need to create a wonderful setting for your party.

Another flower tip is to only use the petals of flowers in your decorating. Using this method is a great way to use your own flowers that are not picture perfect. Sprinkle pedals on table tops and other flat surfaces with a few candles as your decorative statement.

Wedding Flowers – How to Pick the Perfect Petal?

Submitted by Sherry L Harris
Alright ladies and gentlemen, the engagement ring is on the finger, invitations are in the mail and your wedding is fast approaching. You grab your face, let out a sigh and realize you have wedding jitters. On top of all of that you start freaking out because you still need to choose wedding flowers. Not just any flowers because my friend this is no ordinary day. It is your wedding day and even if you have been married 5 times before you still want “your day” to be perfect.

Whether you are looking for traditional or contemporary bridal bouquets, corsages, boutonnières and/or centerpieces below are some great ideas that should help calm your jitters.

Floral Arrangements

Floral arrangements for the bridal party, ceremony and wedding reception can mirror your personality and taste. Whether you are planning a small and simple to elegant and extravagant wedding a professional florist can match the unique style and color scheme of your wedding.

Always choose flowers that are fresh and adapted to the season. When picking flowers make sure the petals are firm and upright. Finally, there are three styles of arrangements in the world of floral arrangements. Drum roll please:

1) Oriental Flower Arrangements: The accent is on the lines in the floral arrangement.
2) Traditional Flower Arrangements: This arrangement focuses on the use of many flowers.
3) Modern Flower Arrangements: These floral arrangements are based on the taste of the florist. It resembles oriental more than the traditional style of arranging flowers.

Roses

For a timeless and classic wedding, roses will always maximize the scene. Roses are very popular because of the high degree of fragrance and beauty they possess. They are called the “queen of flowers”. It is often associated with love, and it is the flower of June, the wedding month. In addition, roses have more than a hundred species.

The origin of the rose dates back to pre-historic times. In fact there is a fossilized rose in the Smithsonian Museum. The rose was declared our National Floral Emblem in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan.

To keep things simple on the big day just remember there are only three primary types people love for weddings:

Miniatures: These roses are beautiful and are ideal for small spaces like back yards and balconies.

Hybrid Teas: These roses have a beautiful shape and are available in a wide variety of colors and shades. And, they have huge blooms.

Floribundas: These relatively smaller flowers with smaller blooms are usually in clusters and come in many colors.

Monochromatic Bridal Bouquets

Monochromatic bridal bouquets will express your modern and bold style. Arrangements featuring only one type of flower (such as all roses, tulips, lilies or iris) are in style and may even include different colors of the same flower. So, go ahead and be bold pick a color, any color and stick with it! If your favorite color is yellow, for example, ask your florist for a fresh bouquet of different flowers in the same color range.

When it comes to choosing wedding flowers, there is a thin line between elated excitement and nervous tension that sometimes reaches the level of being called “stress.” Just remember to breath and let your professional florist handle the rest.

If anxiety over your upcoming wedding is taking a toll on your body, you are constantly having trouble sleeping, feel stressed out and can’t seem to stay calm; you need to stop right now. Don’t be shy or afraid to admit the stress is getting to you. See a doctor who can help get rid of the anxiety before the big day or try natural remedies that can help calm you down and get some rest. You will be surprised that after you calm down and rest, you will be as good as new and ready to finish planning your big day and ordering your wedding flowers with confidence and ease.

Silk Flower Arrangements, Simple and Beautiful Decorating

Submitted by D Randolph
Everyone notices flowers. Let me say that again, everyone notice flowers. Flowers can make the room and silk flower arrangements are the easiest way to do this. Silk Flower Arrangements are pre-made floral arrangements. They can be taken out of the box and set on a table in an instant in most cases. This is the simplest decorating technique that will have a great impact on a room.

These artificial floral arrangements are available in many sizes and can me made up of a single type of flower or a combination of flowers. Silk Roses, Tulips, Gerbera Daisies and Hydrangeas are the most popular flowers for arranging but many others are available. Clear vases and planters with faux water are the more common but clay or synthetic vases are usually found as well.

Color is important. A silk flower arrangement will bring a burst of color to a room so make sure it is the right color. Reds, Yellow, Creams, Pinks, Greens and Oranges are all pretty easy to find. You can also find arrangements that are more seasonal especially ones with a autumn theme or a Christmas theme. Clear vases are the most neutral but typically silk flower arrangements have neutral colored containers.

The next consideration is height. I personally prefer a short silk flower arrangement for dining tables. This makes it so guests don’t have to try to peer to the side to get a glimpse of another guest. In other settings there are numerous sizes available. Use a tall arrangement next to a fireplace or in an entry way, use a very small and compact arrangement in an intimate dining area.

One place often over looked in using flowers is an office. Offices benefit from a mid sized silk flower arrangement. People spend a lot of time in an office. Flowers can really make for a nice look.

The ease and cost of Silk Flower Arrangements make them a must have for decorating. From a cost standpoint, small arrangements cost $20-50 and a large arrangement will cost $150-250. This is very comparable to fresh flowers except that these will last for years. At home I keep 4 different arrangements for our dining table and switch them around throughout the year. This is a very cost effective plan. They store nicely and when I buy a new arrangement, I can very often just take it out of the box and put it on the table. Maintenance is also easy. A little light dusting with a feather duster usually does the trick.

Silk Flower Arrangements – Hypoallergenic

Submitted by Johnny B.
As spring approaches, allergy sufferers often miss out on the warmth of new plant life and gardens in bloom. A season meant to be invigorating and uplifting is spent with a box of tissues and a good seasonal prescription. Even the safety of the home becomes a hostile environment when potted plants are brought indoors to bloom to be enjoyed as a centerpiece or side table decoration. This year, consider silk flower arrangements as a means of enjoying spring with the rest of us without the watering eyes and headaches.

One of the great advantages of owning silk flower arrangements is the fact that they are hypoallergenic. They contain no allergens such as pollen, and are disease free and nontoxic. Unlike many common household plants, their blooms are completely safe for small children and household pets.

There are hundreds of varieties of silk flower arrangements that are available year-round, and you never have to worry about watering them or pruning dead leaves or branches.

Enjoy all of the natural beauty of the real flower but without the highly allergen producing smells and pollens when you purchase silk flower arrangements. Appearing exquisitely realistic and life like, a garden of artificial freesia, hyacinth, daffodil, paper whites, tulips, lilies, crocus, and many more will satisfy your love of all things spring. Enjoy your summer garden of artificial hydrangea, roses, daisies, cymbidium, and magnolia. And when fall finally arrives, pass on the double portion of allergy misery with a selection of gorgeous, peonies, orchids, and an array of autumn colored grasses.

Don’t let allergies keep you from enjoying the beauty of the seasons. Select silk flower arrangements and artificial plants that appeal to your inner artist while sparing yourself a seasonal migraine.

About Wedding Flowers and Decorations

Bouquets
Your bridal bouquet can come about having the status of much of a main detail having the status of your wedding dress. Come about daring! Our florist says, “Most individuals avail yourself of monochromatic shades while matching flowers to dresses, but the opposite shade on the color steering wheel better complements the dress. Afterward, avail yourself of flower accents with the aim of match the dress color to really have the bouquet burst with color.”

Our authority as well recommends, “Make certain to inquire about what is innovative and trendy.” What is trendy at the moment? Green is still very trendy, but right now takes middle stage as a substitute of a sustaining role of other colors. Pale sorbet shades are additionally making a comeback. Pinks rebuff longer dominate the landscape, but are moving on in place of peaches, yellows and oranges.

While hand-tied bouquets are still in prohibitive demand, brides at present ask for a combination of styles. Weeping hand-tied bouquets, called pseudo-cascades, make use of elements from both designs to create gorgeous bouquets with the aim of clearly spill on top of your hands. Avail yourself of berries, feathers, crystals, wire and leaves accents. We also suggests mixing contemporary and traditional blossoms, such having the status of orchids with peonies, roses with anthurium, or else even auburn with tulips. It possibly will come about counterintuitive, but the result effect is beautiful.

Personalize your bouquet and avail yourself of it to distinguish your story. Avail yourself of grandma’s antique wedding dress lace or else beading to wrap the stem. Pin an heirloom brooch or else weave a strand of pearls otherwise a locket into the center to fulfill your “something old” or “something borrowed.” To become it that much more individual, tuck something special within the bouquet intended for your eyes just.

Decorations
Decorating is one of the areas you can either get a expert otherwise you can do-it-yourself. If you wish to deal with each assign yourself, keep in thought that many of the decor must only be set up the sunlight hours of the wedding. This additional stress may not be worth the slight savings inside the decor finances. If you do decide to make up of the decorations by hand, it is still useful to consult with the experts. Many professional decorators are more than happy to sell you materials, rent out supplies, and even teach a couple tricks of the trade. Once you have your plan, seek approval from management at the ceremony and reception venues.

Cost chopping ideas:

Double Duty: Make use of the ceremony flowers to enhance the dais or escort card and gift tables at the reception.

Less is more: Consider using raised centerpieces in 1/3 or 1/2 of the guest table centerpieces. Use low less expensive centerpieces on the balance of the tables. This gives the look of a profusion of flowers for less cost. The guests walk in to see high flowers, low flowers. Just beautiful!

The Ceremony
The entry to your ceremony location is the first glimpse your guests will catch a glimpse of of your wedding. You can make use of fresh flower wreaths and planters to elegantly adorn the doorways. Even simple bows on the railings and doors provide a festive element. Use fresh flower arrangements, balloons, tulle, and candles or other soft lighting to create the environment while guests line up to sign the guest book.

Beautify the altar with flower arrangements or else avail yourself of pedestals to frame the area with flowers and other decorations. We often recommend using two flower arrangements on either side of the altar. As a cost saving option, these displays can later on be used to enhance the reception location.

You will want to especially focus on the aisle. Your goal is to transform the aisle. We’d like to point out the single moment the bride and groom catch a glimpse sight of each other is often times the walk down the aisle.

If you are the bride, this is when all your guests rise up and look just at you; it ought to be an ethereal environment. You can line the aisle with the heads of blossoms, candles or bows and present the flower girl petals to scatter on her walk down the aisle. Tulle, flowers and custom bows promote a elegant way of denoting reserved chairs at the ceremony.

The Reception
Do not limit beautiful arrangements simply for your ceremony. Pomander balls and topiaries are beautifully elegant adornments for both inside and outside.

Guest table centerpieces are most imperative in support of setting the tone of the reception. Guests sit at the tables for several hours and the centerpieces ought to be an eye-catching conversation piece. They are additionally a way to convey the couple’s interests. Candles, balloons and flower petals are continuously classic centerpieces accents, but consider a number of other ideas: If you and your fiancé are both outdoor enthusiasts, your florist can incorporate tall grasses into the design if you both have a contemporary way about you, create something using orchids and river stone to your designs. We also recommend mixing it up. Make use of two to three various versions of your design; it gives depth and provides visual attention.

In addition to your guest tables, you additionally have the dais table, cake table display and gift table. Try to follow through the same theme all the way through the reception. We suggest using plenty of candle illumination on the dais table. Really try to overdo it. The outcome is a really magical reception venue.

Ice Sculptures
Ice sculptures are a dramatic way to enhance your reception. Sculptors can form these memorable creations into almost any statue you want, from a bride and groom dancing to a monogram of the Bride and Groom’s initials. These ice sculptures are surprisingly not expensive for the effect they accomplish.

Beauty of Silk Flower Arrangements Won’t Die

Submitted by Samantha Lorry
The bottom line is this: flowers command attention. They have the power to bring a room to life, and the easiest way to keep flowers in a room is to purchase a silk flower arrangement. In most situations, with a bit of judicious arranging, they are ready-to-go, straight from the box, and their visual impact on a room is powerful and immediate.

Silk flowers are very versatile for making beautiful flower arrangements. They come in different sizes and different flower types. Some common ones are, Tulips, Roses, Daisies, and Hydrangeas. You can pick and choose from all the many varieties and sizes to create many different looks. You can vary the look of the arrangement even more by using a variety of vases, such as synthetic ones or clear ones with fake water.

With silk flower arrangements, color is the key. The flowers will attract so much attention that finding an attractive color palette that complements your room’s decor is a necessity. For everyday arrangements, the most common hues are widely available–red, green, cream, and more. Or change the look by adding seasonal blooms, such as flowers in the warm colors of autumn, or try a holiday theme for festive flair. Clear or neutral colored vases allow the flowers themselves to take center stage.

Now that you have the perfect color, the next most important consideration is height. For instance, a short, compact arrangement seems to work best for a space such as the dinner table. This allows your guests to see each other when seated. A taller arrangement would work best with a larger, less intimate space, such as a foyer, or perhaps the mantle above a hearth.

Workplaces need the beauty and color of silk flowers, too, so don’t neglect your office, where you spend so much of your time. A bouquet of silk flowers that’s not too large, not too small, will be both attractive and appropriate for most offices.

The simple beauty of silk flower arrangements makes them an essential element of your decorating designs, but it’s their relatively cheap price that makes them indispensable. Silk bouquets cost roughly the same as comparable arrangements of fresh flowers, with the smaller arrangements priced from $20 to $50, and larger ones from $150 to $250. But unlike fresh blooms, the cost-effective silk variety will be beautiful for years, and need only an occasional gentle dusting to stay looking fresh. And creating a new look is amazingly simple; I can change the look of my table to reflect the changing seasons by simply removing one arrangement and replacing it with another, straight from its box to the dining room, in just minutes.
