Artificial Flower Arrangements Add Color To Any Room

It is absolutely amazing how far artificial flower arrangements have come during the past few years. It used to be that silk flowers were identifiable from fifteen yards away as “fake”. Today’s artificial flowers are so realistic that even the bees and butterflies can’t tell the difference until they realize that there is no pollen for them to eat. Just about any flower can be reproduced in lifelike detail with the materials, dyes, and craftsmanship of today’s artificial flower makers.

One great use of artificial flower arrangements is to add a touch of primitive decorating to your home. Picture an old timey basket filled with fresh looking black-eyed-susans or maybe a pitcher full of fall wildflowers all artificial, all beautiful, and all maintenance free (except for the occasional dusting). These flowers look great in any home, not just a primitive one or a country one. The great quality artificial flowers can be used in even the most modern of places to add wonderful color and vibrant seasonal decor to any room of any home.

You may be tempted to look at some of the big box stores such as Wal-Mart or Michael’s for your artificial flower arrangements but if you want the best quality at an affordable price check out one of the best artificial flower shops around, Hearts and Flowers Primitives, in Cleveland, GA. This great store carries a huge selection of beautiful artificial flowers perfect for any occasion or decor. They even carry baskets and pitchers to use as the flower holders. Visit today to learn more about adding this great touch of color to your home.

Wedding Table Decorations – Why Not Try a Flower Boa?

Submitted by Peta Fletcher
At weddings you will see alot of wedding table decorations. For example posy bowls, wreaths with and without candles, glass bowls with floating flowers- just to name a few.

Out of all these wedding table ideas, my favorite is the flower boa. A flower boa is a rather large arrangement, which sits at the front of your wedding table or reception tables.

This type of wedding table decoration looks spectacular… mainly because it is quite long. This helps to make the table look bigger, and a flower boa is great for drawing the eye in.

The name flower boa is taken from the feather boa, which a long “snake” of feathers worn around the neck. A flower boa is based on the same principal. It is quite a long wedding table decoration with the flowers “snaked” together in a bow-like shape.

What makes this decoration different to other wedding and reception table decorations is that it doesn’t need any oasis or vase or bowl to sit in.

Why is this?

There are 2 reasons for this:

1- Because of how the decoration is wired together

and…

2- Because it is quite long, it sits under its own weight.

Flower boa’s are really quite beautiful, but because of their size they can be very costly.

But if you make them in silk flowers they cost about half the price, and as an added bonus, you can keep the decoration afterwards, and use it in your own home as a nice hall table decoration etc.

Now like I mentioned before, the flower boa takes it name from the feather boa, but unlike a feather boa a flower boa has a fan shape at the top. This helps the decoration not to fall backwards while sitting on a table.

This type of table decoration looks good when made with just greenery, large long leaves and lots of ferns. You may see these decoration used in churches alot, because their simplicity can draw the eye, without being too distracting.

If you decide to use a flower boa as a wedding table decoration, then make sure you add ribbons at the front of the boa. This will help to soften the look of the decoration and will also help with the flow of the arrangement.

Any flower will look good in a flower boa, but if you are after a particularly eye-catching table decoration, then I think it is best to use large flowers. Look for flowers like calla lilies, and roses. These types of flowers will always grab peoples attention, and they look stunning in both silk flowers and fresh flowers.

Silk Flower Arrangements – How To Choose Them Part 2 of 2

Submitted by Johnny B.
In part one of this series we talked about the important elements in your rooms that you should consider when selecting your silk flower arrangements. We also talked about lighting, what areas of the room need enhancing, natural light versus artificial light and more. In this part we are going to continue talking about container selection as well as protecting your surfaces and the most important part which is where to find the best silk flower arrangements, the widest selections, the best prices and with the least effort! We will also talk about credit card fraud both online and offline and how to avoid becoming a victim.

Once you’ve found the perfect silk flower arrangement, it’s time to decide what container, bowl or stand you want to display your silk arrangements in. The best retailers sell their arrangements with beautiful containers. But if you find the perfect silk flower arrangement but not in the perfect container then consider something pre-made in ceramic or glass. Choose an item that will blend with your room and your flowers. Also, remember the design elements you are looking for and that we talked about in our last installment of this article series.

Finally, decide what surface your silk flower arrangements will be on. Depending on where your they will be placed you may need to consider a stand or some other items to protect the surfaces they sit on. If you bought a stand together with your silk arrangements, then you won’t have to make this decision. If you didn’t, decide whether your flower arrangements will be on a glass top table, on the window sill, or on a wooden coffee table.

Silk flower arrangements are a great way to add a burst of color to a room in need of some pizzazz. Many people have several different arrangements that they rotate each season.

Finally, save yourself some time, aggravation and gas by using the internet to find those perfect silk flower arrangements. The internet offers a vast selection for you to choose from but be careful to look for sites that are secure and offer excellent guarantees and security policies.

The best sites offer satisfaction guarantees, money-back guarantees, good return or exchange policies and free shipping. Also be sure to look for sites that use secure encryption for their credit card transactions, have excellent security policies and, most importantly are scanned daily by Hacker Safe, Geo Trust or one of the other major website security companies. These companies ensure that the websites they scan are totally secure and there are no loopholes for hackers to break in and steal credit card information. Its mind boggling how many sites (most actually) have no scanning of any kind and frequently have major loopholes in them due to the web designer’s incompetence as far as security measures go. Look for those trust and security logos. They are a sign of a good and secure site.

Amazingly, it’s much easier, more convenient and safer to shop online today than it is in the store and it’s just as secure. You might wonder why it’s safer online…the answer is that too often these days we hand our credit card to someone behind a counter who is able to quickly copy the credit card number or rub it against a carbonless form and nearly instantly steal it from you. Far more credit card theft occurs this way than online.

If Your Wedding Guests Have Allergies Consider Alternative Florists Supplies

Every bride wants her wedding to be the most memorable, and perfect, event of her life. Months of preparation and large amounts of money go into making this a special day, and no bride wants her wedding ceremony interrupted by the sound of sneezing coming from a guest who is allergic to flowers.

If you are worried that some of your guests may have an allergic reaction to your flower arrangements, there are some steps you can take. After all, flowers can really complete your wedding and create a great atmosphere. What’s a wedding without a bouquet to throw? Flowers are very traditional, so before you decide to cancel your order you should consult with a professional who understands a lot about florist supplies.

Many people immediately turn to artificial flowers in these cases. Silk flowers are surprisingly life-like and are often mistaken for the real thing. It’s not uncommon to find them in a bridal bouquet or being used as decorations in the wedding area. Reception halls can also be made to look nice with these flowers.

If you’re going to get married outdoors this can be a good way to go as well. Sometimes the heat can cause the flowers to start wilting, but high quality silk flowers, which can be bought from wholesalers, craft stores, or a florist supplies store, can easily take the heat.

Another option is to simply avoid the flowers that have a strong scent. Roses may be traditional, but they are very fragrant and can cause an allergic reaction. Lily-of-the-valley is the same way, and should probably be left out if you’re really cautious. Take the time to consult with someone who specializes in florist supplies because they will be able to advise you on which flowers to avoid.

Some couples don’t use flowers at all, but opt for other choices such as balloons, candles, ribbons, and bows. There are florists who specialize in creating archways, table arrangements, and other decorative touches with balloons. Swags made from ribbons and bows attached to pews, chairs, and tables make attractive decorations. Candles always create a romantic setting and are a perfect choice for a wedding.

If you like the idea of something a little more “outside the box” you should consider using edible bouquets instead of traditional flower arrangements. It doesn’t matter if you use cookies, fruit, or candy, this will make a lot of guests very happy.

These are just a few suggestions that you might consider when you are planning a wedding. Naturally, you want this to be a special occasion for you and your guests, so if you’re worried about allergies acting up, be sure to seek the advices of someone who understand florist supplies so you will be sure to choose the best items possible.

To save costs on your big event look to buying florist supplies at wholesale. You can save costs on items like votive candles and floral foam.

Christmas Flower Arrangement

Submitted by George Sandler
Traditional arrangements come in a happy mix of green, red, and white fresh Christmas flowers ‘poinsettias’ and include Christmas cactus or holly with green leaves and red berries. Silk flowers can be used to achieve the very same type of effect.

Many people choose the beauty and festivity of a silk flower arrangement over traditional ones because of the inherent economical benefits that traditional arrangements do not offer. An additional benefit is that they are very easy to make and can therefore be prepared seasons before the rush of the Christmas holiday sets in. To begin with your Christmas silk flower arrangement, you will need the following items: a container, floral adhesive, pliers, wire cutters, flora tape, foam, and tape.

The lightweight container you chose for your Christmas silk flower arrangement shouldn’t be too wide, but it shouldn’t be too narrow, either. To begin, make a large silk flower arrangement in an urn-shaped container. In order to give your arrangement a sense of variety, choose different flowers in your textures. Also, as you are buying your flowers, holly, or berries – which, of course, should match the color of your room and give it a festive look – examine the edges carefully. Pick edges that look fresh and natural over ones that look frayed or damaged.

Your next step is to arrange the flowers. A wide opening is desirable, as it will help you show the actual shape of the flower. Place the stems into the foam. If you need to have longer stems, attach a piece of floral wire at the end of each stem, using floral tape. To get the best looking Christmas silk flower arrangement, vary the size of your stems. This will give your arrangement a sense of additional shape, which will in turn make the arrangement prettier.

Precious Flower Girl Baskets and Headpieces

Your little flower girl is bound to be adorable. Enhance her sweet look with special accessories. These are some of the most precious ideas for flower girl baskets and headpieces.
The first thing to think about when choosing a basket for your flower girl is scale. It should be a size that is manageable for the young lady carrying it, so you would give a smaller basket to a three year old than you would to an eight year old girl. You will also have a variety of options for the shape of the basket. Open shallow baskets can be nice because it does not take many petals to fill them, but they can be easier to spill. If you choose a small deep basket, the bottom can be stuffed with tulle and the rose petals placed on top.
White woven baskets are a staple for flower girls and look especially pretty for an outdoor summer wedding. They can be filled with petals for tossing, or with small arrangements of flowers. Daisies would be a fresh and pretty choice for an informal wedding. To make the basket cuter, tie intertwined ribbons around the handle and let them stream down the sides of the basket. The ribbons can either match the flowers or your wedding colors.
Another very nice option for a flower girl basket is one that is covered in fabric. They are often done in white or ivory silk, which is suitable for every type of wedding. For a winter wedding, look for a basket covered in a velvet or a rich brocade fabric. Ribbon streamers also look festive on fabric baskets, as do silk flower accents. It is a fun and easy diy project to hot glue a few flowers to the basket along the edge where the handle meets the basket part. To create a truly coordinated look for your wedding party, you can use a similar treatment on the ring bearer’s pillow.
You can also take a simple basket and transform it for your flower girl. One of the most beautiful effects is to hot glue real roses onto a woven basket until it is completely covered. Be sure to wait until about an hour before the wedding before removing the roses from water, removing their stems, and securing them to the basket. You can also mist them with water to keep the roses from wilting too quickly. This is a fairly simple project that will really add beauty to your wedding.
Your flower girl deserves a headpiece as pretty as her basket. One of the most common styles is a little floral wreath. It can be made with fresh flowers, dried flowers, or even silk or paper flowers. As with the basket, size matters. The circlet needs to fit the size of the flower girl’s head and the flowers should not be too large for her. To make the flower girl wreath even more romantic, intertwine ribbons with the flowers, and have them stream down her back.
Older flower girls may prefer a more simple style for their hair ornaments. A small barrette or comb with little pearls on it is a very pretty decoration for a young lady. Compliment the headpiece by giving her a dainty pearl necklace to wear for her flower girl jewelry. The nice thing about classic pearls for her flower girl jewelry and barrette is that she will be able to wear them again for other occasions. These sweet details are just perfect for the little girls in your wedding.

A SILK AND ARTISTIC TOUCH – WEDDING FLOWERS

Decorations from the start to the end can enhance and beatify every moment without expense hesitations at a reduced half price comparison to the real flowers. With time preservation on your side you can begin with the decorations for the guest?s keepsake gifts, and continue to the church?s procession isle and altar bouquets, pebbles and leaves, cascading banners, ionic pillars decorated with wreaths running circularly and horizontally with flowers, or just a trestle. You?re also creating a non-toxic and allergen free environment.

The artistry, perfection, and resonance within the making of the silk flower continue to become undeniably a portrayal of enhancement, and everlasting beauty. From the Cymbidium Orchid to the phenomenal Casablanca Lily, you can foresee their everlasting beauty. Such flowers as the Peony and the Hydrangea, to the exotic Bird of Paradise and Anthurium, can uniquely enhance your arrangement. Such beauty in such flowers as the Confetti Rose, possibly drenched in dew drops, or color enhancing Lily-of-the Valley, Phalaenopsis, and Freesia, or just the purity of Jasmine, can entice your imagination and add to the serenity of any layout. Plants and trees can also add to a scenic perspective in just green or in bloom.

Such beauty can be captured in your bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages, a wide array of arrangements, table center pieces, without wilting towards the end of the occasion, or leaving any residue on your table cloths or woodwork.

The craftsmanship and quality can be appreciated by the flower enthusiast, since you cannot tell the difference without touching. Throughout the years the detail in creating the silk flower has progressed immensely where you can even feel the texture, along with delicately designed stems and explicit veins through the leaves. The earliest detection of the silk flower was in the 27th Century BC, and originated by the Chinese. The French improved the quality of the material used in the 14th Century, and later exported what was then known as ?The French Silk Flower,? to England, who then introduced it to America in the 19th Century. Today silk flowers are mostly imported from such places as China, Thailand, and other countries, with everlasting features such as dust resistance, easy to clean, and the most realistic artistry.

Your selection is endless. There?s no seasonal boundary line with your selection, but a gorgeous combination of preference with endless practical conveniences to make your wedding the most enjoyable.

Submitted by Lata Tokhi
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a wedding is the lovely bride walking with her bouquet. Flowers are an essential part of any wedding, but their exorbitant prices give many a bride sleepless nights. There are the bouquets and centerpieces and other decorations to take care of. But staying within your budget does not mean that you have to give up something that you simply cannot do without.

Here are some smart ways to reduce the wedding costs by saving money on your Wedding flowers.

1. Plan all the Flower Needs Ahead of Time

Decide beforehand what you will need. That includes the number of bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnières and other floral decorations. Now determine how many flowers of each type are you going to need for all these put together.

2. Shop for Flowers in the Morning

Make the Bridal bouquet using baby roses, baby’s breath and greens. Make Bridesmaids’ bouquets using assorted seasonal flowers. For simple decorations, use flowers with tall stems and lots of greenery to place in tall vases. 4 or 5 of these will fill up the place quickly. Float roses in water along with candles for centerpieces.

5. Opt for Artificial/Silk Flowers

Maybe you cannot imagine using artificial flowers for your bouquets or boutonnières or corsages, you can easily replace fresh flowers used for the other decorations by artificial flowers. Use silk flowers to make centerpieces, wall decorations, pew décor, head table swags etc. You will also have the advantage of making these beforehand to save time on the wedding day.
